I have taken advantage of the counselling services, both in Residence and at Health and Counselling for 2 years. The ease of access and relative quickness in getting an appointment, compared to off-campus, was crucial to my academic, mental, and physical well-being. I can honestly say that without being easily able to see a counselor on campus, not only would I have long been forced to drop out of school, but I may not be alive today. The cancellation of appointments due to the strike breaks my heart; though I no longer require campus services regularly, I can only imagine the impact this would have on someone who might be in the position I was a few years ago. Students deserve staff who are able to serve us to the best of their ability, and staff can only serve us to the best of their ability if they have fair and stable working conditions.
